    WTCC 2010

Post by Eurostc on Mon Nov 30 2009, 04:38

BMW and SEAT are expected to announce their plans for the World Touring Car Championship 2010 next week. BMW Motorsport boss Mario Theissen has confirmed officially that their plans will decided on december the 5th. Unfortunately no good news is expected.
By Johan Meissner Saturday, 28 November 2009 00:01 CET
BMW is expected to either pull out completely or reduce their program significantly.

BMW Team Italy/Spain, or Ravaglia Motorsport, is according to our sources set to leave WTCC and instead focus on the Italian series Superstars. Team Schnitzer is rumored to be heading for endurance racing.

RBM is expected to be the sole manufacturer supported BMW team in WTCC next year with two or three cars on the grid. Autosport reports Andy Priaulx and Augusto Farfus as two of the drivers.

SEAT are also expected to turn up with a seriously reduced program. Of the current SEAT drivers, Gabriele Tarquini and Jordi Gené are most likely to remain. Any further SEAT drivers are most likely going to be pay-drivers.

The WTCC is heading in to an uncertain future. The question is if the series manages to regain the lost entries with the new rules scheduled for 2011. Series manager Marcello Lotti is confident that the series will succeed.

"I am working hard to have two new manufacturers when our new rules arrive in 2011. I'm sure we will have more than four," said Lotti to Autosport.

I think they will struggle for numbers next year. It was mentioned a while ago that Proteam were looking elsewhere too. Engstler wants to have a second team representing his guys in Asia, read in the past few days that Sunred may get a diesel or 2 as well.

Also, as said elsewhere - the ETCC and Scandinavian TCC seems to be of interest to teams like Perfection Racing - who were looking at WTCC events in 2010 - so I think they will lose some potential independents due to those 2 championships as well.

Looks like this could be the entry list so far:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Poulsen back on his own, with Hernandez at Engstler is a surprise.

Proteam have only shipped one car to Brazil for D'Aste so far - so don't know if the Campos Jr. bit is correct. The team names for Gene and Tarquini are probably also old and I think Nykjaer has a SEAT Tdi too.

Maybe the Bamboo car would look better if they replaced the green with the yellow and maybe then painted the back end of the car yellow as well. I'd be shot if I produced something at work using our yellow and green colours.

The more I look at it the more terrible it looks. I got to quite like the Airwaves BMWs last year after I said I hated it but I can't see me ever liking this Bamboo scheme silent

WTCC: Proteam working hard on 2010 season
After having signed Stefano d'Aste, Proteam are working on the 2010 season. The presence of the Italian outfit has been uncertain until the 2007 Independents' champion signed the deal for the full season. The car d'Aste is going to use, which features the new facelift of the 3 series used on the works BMWs since Marrakech, has already been shipped, but a lot more is going on behind the scenes.
By Pietro Casillo Friday, 05 February 2010 12:24 CET
A major change in Proteam has taken place, with historic and successful engineer Renaud Dufour being replaced by former Grand Prix engineer Marco Calovolo. The Italian worked with Lada and Honda Hartmann in 2009, following James Thompson. The team will carry out some testing in Magione to make sure Calovolo gets to grips with the 320si, trying different setup solutions, as well as giving d'Aste the chance to get some mileage in.

Proteam are still looking for a driver to partner d'Aste. After Adrian Campos Jr. had tested the car, rumours placed him in the Tuscany-based outfit for the 2010 season, but at the moment nothing is confirmed and nothing has changed since. Speculations have also placed Hernàndez in contention for the drive, after BMW Team Italy-Spain withdrew from the World Touring Car Championship. The Spaniard is said to be open to many opportunities, though, and it is rumoured that he's talking to several BMW Independent teams in order to choose what he feels to be the best solution.

Only one BMW has been shipped to Brazil, but things can change very quickly. Any deal will have to be finalized very shortly, in order to prepare the material in the best possible way.

Oh yes Mardionu that looks much better to me without the green, even if they left the back white and just replaced the green Nice one :master: :master:

I understand why they have kept the green, but it looks a mess, they should just remove it
