    Schumacher will return!

Post by snowy on Sat Dec 12 2009, 10:58

    Schumacher will return!

I am not the only person who believes Michael Schumacher will renew his affiliation with Ross Brawn.

When Eddie Jordan suggested this everyone laughed, however while Eddie Jordan may appear to be wild and woolly headed, he is in fact very astute. And he has a whole plethora of friends, associates and ex employees up and down the pitlane. The reason the rumour is gathering momentum and refuses to go away is because Michael Schumacher himself refuses to go away!

2010 will be even more interesting and we may even see an eight times WDC! Mercedes want it to happen, Ross Brawn wants it to happen, Michael Schumacher wants it to happen and Eddie Jordan and Snowy say
    "it will happen."

Would be so awesome, I hope you are right!

    One question Snowy, all knowing:

How will no refuel work to make better racing....?
(seems to me everyone will be tanks at beginning, and having the same fuel load throughout the race will not be exciting either)

Why would you stop more than once?

How could a 2 pit strategy beat a one stopper?

Prior to 1994 the tyres, tyre compounds and how the different cars used those different tyres dictated pitstop strategy. Running very deep into a race with worn out rubber could often win you a race or lose you one. Knowing that a car in front is going to pit disuades drivers from attempting overtaking. Knowing that the car in front may never pit encourages attempts at overtaking. That is my theory and I will either be proven wrong or right in 2010! Wink

You may not like him, though I can not understand why, as a racer, but he will bring new excitement to the sport dying a slow death.

I love F-1 but I think the FIA is killing it slowly!

There is a lot of people really pissed with F1 at the moment. But I have to say that the last three seasons have been very pleasant. Very Happy I really have enjoyed the on track action and although I mourn the passing of passing on track, I haven't let it ruin my enjoyment of the races.

A major problem with F1 is the horrific coverage allied to a lack of information from the commentators.

When I watch F1 I keep tabs on the Live Timing. And I find that knowing where everyone is and when they are flying or just trundling about gives me enough of a vision of events to be most content. I watch MotoGP and V8Supercars and Touring Cars and they overtake all the time but in truth the races are just as dull. Overtaking is a little overrated in my opinion, and I particularly hate the contraptions invented to promote overtaking like reversed grids. They produce a version of events that is contrary to all natural laws.

No they weren't dull, they were actually very exciting... I don't know why I say what I say half the time! Embarassed

Perhaps I am never tempted to discuss MotoGP or WSBK or V8's because they leave me completely satiated. Whereas F1 always leaves me feeling half empty and in need of resolution... detective

Ross Brawn doesn't necessarily want a quick fit driver, he wants someone who can develop a fundamentally quick car that will have a clear and long lasting development curve. With recent assurances of stability in the rules it makes perfect sense to employ a driver who can set a car and keep a cars development in the right direction.

The reason Michael Schumacher kept on testing for Ferrari long after his retirement was the fact that Kimi Raikkonen wasn't trusted by Ferrari to develop the car. As evidenced by Luca Di Montezemolo's recent comment:

"We realised that our team needed a driver capable of really getting involved with the engineers, a characteristic that was not part of Kimi's genetic make-up, even though he is an amazingly talented guy."
