MG considering BTCC return in 2011
MG could be back in the British Touring Car Championship next year according to Motorsport News. The now Chinese owned manufacturer is currently talking to teams about running two cars next year.
"We have had approaches on many different levels of motorsport – from people in grassroots series to established BTCC teams – who want to race the MG6," said MG Motor UK marketing director Guy Jones to Motorsport News.

The MG6 model has not been released yet, pictured below, but is according to MG very much suitable for the new NGTC regulations.

"The MG6 is very versatile and already runs an engine similar to the forthcoming NGTC touring car unit so it perfectly suits the BTCC blueprint," said Jones.

There is no official decision yet, but MG is serious about entering the series according to Jones.

"There is no concrete plan at the moment but we are at the table with interested parties and a BTCC programme will undoubtedly be seriously considered," said Jones.

Haha yes Spyker got it now, the company is called: "Saab Spyker Automobiles N.V." The Chinese company Geely are after Volvo, the deal was signed on March 28th this year and will be fully completed in Q3 of this year. It's ok, sorry for the little off topic. Hope to see Saab continuing the touringcar programme.
The MG6 looks a bit big, but I'm in for big competition.

Special Tuning confirms two SEAT entry

Special Tuning Racing is going to run two SEAT León's with NGTC engines in the British Touring Car Championship next year.
"We are taking the 2011 season very seriously, the team firmly has its sights set on winning the independents' title next year and with the highly experienced engineering team we have behind us combined with the Leon chassis and NGTC engine we think this is a very achievable target," said team boss John Boardman.

Can't see this mentioned in this thread, but another Toyota was announced last week for Frank Wrathall's team Dynojet: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

The old BTC-spec cars have been given one last year in 2011

The cars will have to run with an extra 50 kilos base-weight and only the cars that raced this year will be allowed on the grid next year.

The grid is looking quite hopeful already. The only team to announce they would stick with the S2000 engine if they race next year is Chevrolet, all the rest are NGTC engined so far.

Nothing confirmed, but Matt Hamilton is hoping to be back next year. The Civic he started this year with has been crushed I think so I presume if he is back it'll be some sort of S2000/ NGTC car if it comes off

    2011 BTCC circuit lay-outs confirmed
The BTCC has confirmed the majority of the circuit lay-outs which will be used during 2011, switching the GP and Indy dates at Brands Hatch and running on a new longer lay-out at Snetterton.
The series official page, BTCC.net has confirmed that the opening round at Brands Hatch will be on the Indy circuit configuration, which was used for the final meeting of 2010. This has also been used by the DTM in recent years for its British round.

The penultimate round of 2011 will use the longer Brands Hatch Grand Prix lay-out, which has been regularly used to differentiate the two events at Brands on the BTCC calendar. The GP circuit has also been used for the World Touring Car Championship from 2006 until this season.

The longest meeting of the calendar will now be at the Snetterton circuit in Norfolk. Circuit owner MSV is currently developing a new configuration called the 'Snetterton 300', which is so named for it's planned three mile length.

It has also been confirmed that the circuit lay-outs at Donington Park, Rockingham and Oulton Park will be the same as this year, using the National, International Super Sports and Island configurations respectively.

The season finale at Silverstone is still TBC, as the BTCC may be able to take advantage of the new complex being built for Formula One next season and run on the South Circuit.

Taken from the twitter account of Matt Hamilton's dad:

@Unlap there are some real promising options for 2011, but they all need money :-( Gotta decide what route we take pretty soon

@Unlap the best one involves a new manufacturer, thats the one we want

@Unlap No,not a 3rd Car. Can't reveal too much as I bet there are several chasing the deal

New manufacturer rules out Chevrolet and Honda so there must be some interesting news to come

Apparently this is the car David Pinkney drove last year

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Jeff Smith joins Eurotech in a Vauxhall Vectra

Jeff Smith is going to drive a NGTC powered Vauxhall Vectra for Team Eurotech in the British Touring Car Championship 2011.
"It’s great to have my plans for next season set in place. After my outing at Knockhill I really have a taste for the BTCC – it is the most competitive race series in the UK," said Smith to btcc.net.
The 44-year-old drove a Vauxhall Vectra for Triple Eight this year in the BTCC race weekend at Knockhill where he finished 14th in two of the races. For 2011 Smith is hoping to break in to top ten.

"I would like to be pushing towards and getting into the top ten but I’m realistic enough to know that’s not going to come instantly I don’t think people realise just how tough it is at this level," said Smith.

Eurotech ran a NGTC powered Vauxhall Vectra for Andrew Jordan in the BTCC 2010 and Smith is confident that the team is going do a good job in 2011.

"Now between Pyro and Eurotech Racing I have the opportunity to race in a championship-winning car (the Vectra won the 2007 and 2008 BTCC titles with Triple Eight) and with a race-winning team in 2011. Eurotech achieved some strong results last season with Andrew Jordan and Pirtek, particularly when you consider it was a one car team, so hopefully things will move even further forward next season," said Smith.

Smith has previously taken part in the Renault Clio Cup UK. [u]
